In 2017, StepUp Academy became the first performing arts school to represent the UAE at DisneyLand Paris.

StepUp Academy Paris on stage show

A troupe of 22 young StepUp dancers headed to Disneyland Paris in March 2017 to perform for crowds at the theme park, which is one of Europe’s biggest.
StepUp Academy were extremely excited after they were invited to perform inside Disneyland Paris on one of their main stages after submitting an audition performance on video to the judges in France. Our dancers, aged between 8 and 15, shone on stage whilst they performed their 20-minute piece.

During their trip, the students and teachers took part in a workshop with the resort’s musical theatre and dance professionals. Each year, Disney Performing Arts OnStage opens the door for amateur groups from around the world to be a Disney performer for a day. It is open to instrumental, choral, dance and parade groups. StepUp is honoured to have been the first to represent the UAE.

The five songs StepUp performed, which included street jazz and hip-hop, all represented diversity, including: “We Go Together” from the movie Grease, and “We Are One”, a World Cup anthem. What a magical experience!

We couldn’t be any prouder of our StepUp Superstars for this major accolade and for “setting the stage” for future StepUp dance troupes to perform at DisneyLand Paris.
